Good morning, Skill Seekers!
North Potomac’s crown jewel—the Nancy H. Dacek Recreation Center just unveiled a fall lineup that’s part wellness retreat, part art school, part “how do they fit this many classes in one building?” We’re talking Tai Chi, pottery, Zumba, and AI lectures, plus a park next door for post-class nature walks. Meanwhile, Churchill High is still among Maryland’s academic royalty, Honeycrisp season is here, and Wolf Trap’s staging Carmen under the stars for a night of pure drama, with subtitles, just in case your high school Spanish was more “hola” than operatic.
Potomac’s never boring. Let’s loop.
🗞️ THE LOCAL LOWDOWN

By Popular Demand: Your North Potomac Recreation Roadmap

Apparently, our Recreation Concierge concept resonated with more than a few subscribers. Within hours of Wednesday's newsletter hitting your morning routine, requests poured in for the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center guide. Consider it done.
This LEED-certified, 48,000-square-foot facility on Travilah Road serves over 24,000 residents across a 6.5-square-mile area, and frankly, they've outdone themselves with fall programming. The 55+ lineup alone spans everything from Chinese Classical Folk Dance to Artificial Intelligence Lecture Series so that we can learn to dance with our robot overlords.
Standout offerings include three different Bone Builders sessions throughout the week, Wellness Wednesdays with UMD nursing students, and what might be the DMV's most comprehensive Tai Chi selection. The pottery studios are hosting ornament workshops just in time for holiday gift-giving, while the therapeutic recreation programs ensure accessibility across all abilities.
Registration is open now on Active Montgomery on a first-come, first-served basis, and yes, those Activity Codes are your golden ticket to skip the catalog browsing. Popular classes fill quickly, but waitlists are available if your preferred session is already full as spots often open up before start dates.
