Good morning, boundary buffs.
This week’s boundary study finally hit the front burner when maps dropped, parents rallied, and petitions flew before the ink dried. But if zoning talk makes your head spin, swap it for a spin on the dance floor at the German International School’s Oktoberfest this Saturday, where the oompah’s strong and the pretzels come standard. Or, wind down with Bryan Eng & Trio at Potomac Presbyterian, smooth enough to make even school politics fade to background noise.
Potomac’s never boring. Let’s loop.
🗞 THE LOCAL LOWDOWN

Where the Crown/Damascus boundary study stands after a very Montgomery week

Existing High School Attendance Areas, MCPS
Last week, MCPS released new options to redraw attendance boundaries. This week, the district held multiple identical briefings, virtual and in person, with a follow-up survey. Maps and articulation paths were front and center. Potomac parents noticed quickly, and petitions began circulating within hours.
On Tuesday, Superintendent Thomas Taylor proposed a six-year, ~$2.7B capital plan to address aging facilities, highlighting tight dollars and tough trade-offs.
Today, citing softening enrollment, he told the Board he wants to consider using the soon-to-open Crown HS as a temporary holding school rather than fully opening it in 2027–28. That shift could upend the current Boundary study.
For now, proposals affecting Potomac-area schools and feeder patterns remain in play, even if the timeline changes. We gathered every Potomac-area map and articulation table MCPS has released and put them in one place so you can see, at a glance, how elementary-to-middle-to-high pathways could shift.
We’ll keep following this. In the meantime, read our Churchill-cluster summary of feeder tables and maps.
