Good morning, champions!
While you're deciding whether this weather calls for the polo shirt or the performance fabric (let's be honest—it's July in the DMV, so wick that moisture), we've got you in the loop for the week ahead: from the U.S. Adaptive Open proving that excellence knows no boundaries, to adorable rescue pets who've mastered the art of melting hearts better than your college kids “emergency” Venmo requests, plus a quick survey to help us decode exactly which events deserve prime real estate in your busy lives.
Now grab that cold brew and let's tee off...

Woodmont Welcomes Golf's Most Inspiring Championship

© Lloyd Fox/Baltimore Sun/TNS
Fairways, meet fortitude: The 2025 U.S. Adaptive Open lands at Woodmont Country Club, where 96 elite golfers—each a master of adaptation—will take on the South Course today through Wednesday. The field, spanning eight impairment categories, brings together pros and amateurs from across the globe, all vying for a championship that’s as much about community spirit as it is about birdies and bogeys.
Woodmont’s greens are no stranger to prestige: Having hosted U.S. Open qualifiers and now two consecutive Adaptive Opens, the club is the DMV’s answer to Augusta—minus the azaleas, but with a surplus of local pride. Spectators can expect complimentary admission, a showcase of world-class golf, and the chance to see Potomac’s own Ford Martin, 32, be the first American to win the championship.
For families seeking inspiration (and perhaps a new favorite golfer): This is a rare chance to witness resilience and skill in action, right in our backyard. If you can’t make it to the fairway, you can catch the action on the Golf Channel’s “Golf Today” and “Golf Central” for live look-ins on Monday & Tuesday. For the first time ever, the final round will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel Wednesday from 2-4pm.
